Oruaiti Reserve

Pass of Branda
Seatoun, Wellington
The sea end of the ridge separating Seatoun and Breaker Bay provides a commanding view of the entrance to Wellington Harbour making it a strategic location. That this was once a pa site is acknowledged by a Waka Sculpture set in the ground. Walking tracks traverse the ridge and provide access to several old observation points and gun emplacements.

Oruaiti Reserve is a protected coastal ecosystem. Important native plant species are being preserved and revegetation is under way with eco-sourced plants.

Interpretation panels around the reserve provide insights into the history of this interesting place.

The mythical waka was designed by Charles Gordon.
