Burke Pass and St Patrick's Union Church

Burkes Pass is named after Michael John Burke, a graduate of Dublin University., He discovered the passageway leading into the Mackenzie Country in 1855. The town here was first called Cabbage Tree Creek. It was once the administrative centre of the McKenzie. In 1898 there were 53 pupils in the school here. St Patrick's an interdenominational Church, was built in 1871.
