Westpac Trust Stadium

Pipitea, Wellington
Wellington's Westpac Stadium is colloquially known as the cake tin. It has proved a popular and highly successful venue for major sports and entertainment events in Wellington including home games of the Hurricanes rugby team and the Phoenix football club.

A major feature of the Wellington Calendar is the Rugby Sevens held here in February. This New Zealand venue is one of nine Sevens World Series tournaments held every year. The Wellington tournament provides the excuse for New Zealand's biggest costume party drawing large numbers to the city.

The architects of the stadium were Warren and Mahoney in association with Bligh Lobb Sports. (2000)

It is easy to walk here. An elevated walkway starts at the Wellington Rail station which is also a bus terminus.
