Massey University Main Building

Riverbank Rd (S.H.57), Massey University
Palmerston North, Manawatu
When the University Colleges in Auckland & Wellington decided to combine their agricultural teaching and base it in Palmerston North, Roy Lippincott was commissioned to design the main teaching block, resulting in this fine building. It was opened on 30 April 1931.

William Ferguson Massey, Prime Minister of New Zealand from 1912 had died in office in May 1925. He was known as "Farmer Bill". Fittingly the new agricultural college was named after him.
