Bushy Park Homestead, was designed by architect Charles Tilliard Natusch and built in 1906 and has a unique location in an ancient rainforest.

Bushy Park is a Category One Historic Places Trust registered building and is a Top 25 Australasian Ecological Restoration Project. A pest-proof fence surrounds the 240 acre sanctuary creating a “mainland Island” which protects endangered birds from all predators.

Self-guided bush walks allow visitors to catch glimpses of rare native birdlife, such as the North Island robin, saddleback, tui and the rare and spectacular stitchbird (hihi) in their natural habitat. “Ratanui” regarded as New Zealand's largest northern rata can also be seen.

Bed and breakfast accommodation is available in six rooms in the Homestead with evening meals by prior arrangement. Bunkhouse accommodation also available and motor homes are welcome.

Day visitors can stroll along the bush walks before relaxing in the licensed cafe. Entry fee - $6 adults, children under 15 free.
