Old Government House, Auckland

Auckland University
Auckland, Auckland
Designed by “New Zealand’s first architect”, William Mason, and first occupied in 1856, this building began its life as the Governor’s residence, when Auckland was the country’s capital, and is now the University’s senior common room. Architecturally the building is a fine example of timber fashioned to mimic stone and one of the first large buildings in the country which is Italianate in style.
