Central Wellington's oldest surviving building provides an opportunity to see how early settlers coped with the demands of colonial living. This cottage in a colonial Georgian style was built about 1858 by William Wallis, a carpenter, for his family.

Bus route 7 runs from the Railway Station to Kingston. Alight at Brooklyn Road for Nairn Street.

Route 8 runs from the Railway Station to Mornington via Brooklyn.
