The Whanganui, New Zealand's longest navigable river, runs through this historically interesting national park, a unique area where Maori culture has long played a significant role. Visitors may enjoy river trips of varying kinds, from kayaking to jet-boating. Short walks and longer tramps are all possible and permits to hunt deer, pigs and goats are obtainable.
