South Canterbury Museum

Perth Street, Timaru

Regional museum covering South Canterbury natural and human history with particular emphasis on Timaru history. There is a replica of a Richard Pearse aircraft. The display on Caroline Bay and its role as a beachside resort in the early 20C before car ownership was widespread is fascinating. Special trains came from Christchurch for day trips.
