Tane Mahuta
Highway 12, 64 Km northwest of Dargaville.
Older than a 1000 years, this great kauri tree - "God of the Forest" - is 51 metres tall and has a girth of 13.5 m. The highway through the 2500 hectare Waipoua Kauri Forest provides views of a number of these magnificent trees.
